摘要: Abstract Purification of raw sugar beet juice expressed at ambient temperature (20 °C) from pretreated slices by pulsed electric field (E = 600 V·cm− 1, tPEF = 10 ms, T = 20 °C) was studied on the laboratory scale dead-end ultrafiltration tests. Polyethersulfone (PES) and Regenerated Cellulose (RC) membranes with same nominal molecular weight cut-off 30 kDa were used. Experiments carried out in unstirred stirred (at rotation speed 500 rpm) mode constant trans-membrane pressure 2 bar. The effects membrane polymer (Polyethersulfone Regenerate Cellulose) filtration flux permeate quality studied. In order to identify fouling mechanism, kinetics modeled using combined models. Results showed that productivity (filtration flux) selectivity (rejection ratio impurities) depended polymer. filterability better while polyethersulfone ensured a retention impurities (colorants, proteins colloids), leading higher purity. Experimental models data adjustment preferable investigate mechanism for both filtration. desirable purity (95–96%) filtrate implies potential application novel process (PEF treatment-cold pressing-ultrafiltration) industrial production. Industrial relevance Pre-treatment PEF allowed cold or mild extraction sucrose roots. combination ultra-filtration high yield purification less energy consumption. Membrane analysis led producibility. obtained can be useful optimization production processes.
