摘要: Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and acute kidney injury. Approximately 5% of HUS cases are associated with Streptococcus pneumoniae infections (pHUS). Treatment includes supportive care appropriate antimicrobial therapy, fluid blood product resuscitation, renal replacement therapy. We presented a case 22-month-old previously healthy girl, who was hospitalized at University Hospital Split. Left-sided pneumonia sepsis caused S. were confirmed. The course illness complicated development pHUS. Since the pathogenesis pHUS only partially understood, treatment remains controversial. Our patient successfully treated daily sequence tandem continuous venovenous hemodiafiltration therapeutic plasma exchange albumins, along other measures. Therefore, in our opinion, plasmapheresis should be considered as part standard children Additionally, incidence appears to increasing. particularly important among pediatric pathogens it can cause wide spectrum illnesses. due significant burden invasive pneumococcal disease, vaccination encouraged.
