Theory of anisotropic diamagnetism, local moment magnetization and carrier spin-polarization in Pb 1-x Eu x Te

摘要: We present theoretical analyses of anisotropic lattice diamagnetism, magnetization due to magnetic ions and carrier spin-polarization in the diluted semiconductor, Pb1-xEuxTe. The diamagnetism results from orbital susceptibility inter band effects spin-orbit contributions. contribution is found be dominant. However, both contributions show pronounced anisotropy. With increase x, decreases. consider randomly distributed isolated clusters pairs triads for local moment magnetization. magnetic-ion dominant one.We calculate two typical ion concentrations: x=0.03 x=0.06. Temperature dependence also considered. Apart localized ions, spin-density calculated a density p=1018 cm−3. relative carriers increases with field strength concentration. agreement experiment where available reasonably good.
