摘要: Abstract Ellobiopsids are multinucleate protist parasites of aquatic crustaceans that possess a nutrient absorbing ‘root’ inside the host and reproductive structures protrude through carapace. have variously been affiliated with fungi, ‘colorless algae’, dinoflagellates, although no morphological character has identified definitively allies them any particular eukaryotic lineage. The arrangement trailing circumferential flagella rarely observed bi-flagellated ‘zoospore’ is reminiscent dinoflagellate flagellation, but well-organized ‘dinokaryotic nucleus' never observed. Using small subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences from two species Thalassomyces, phylogenetic analyses robustly place these ellobiopsid among alveolates (ciliates, apicomplexans, dinoflagellates relatives) though without clear affiliation to established alveolate Our trees demonstrate Thalassomyces fall within + ...
