Repellency and efficacy of insecticides against foraging workers in laboratory colonies of Argentine ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

摘要: Laboratory studies were done to evaluate the repellency and efficacy of 25 insecticides against foraging workers Argentine ant, Iridomyrmex humilis (Mayr). The trail pheromone I. humilis, cis-9 hexadecenal, was used induce trailing movement through sections glass tubing treated with insecticides. General formulations ranked as granular < emulsifiable concentrate dust wettable powder. As insecticide increased, mortality increased. Potential field barrier treatments is discussed.
