Ingestion of crude oil: sublethal effects in herring gull chicks

摘要: A single small oral dose of Kuwait or South Louisiana crude oil caused cessation growth, osmoregulatory impairment, and hypertrophy hepatic, adrenal, nasal gland tissue in herring gull chicks living a simulated marine environment. These findings suggest that ingesting causes multiple sublethal effects might impair bird's ability to survive at sea.
