ENERGY EXCHANGE BETWEEN THE CARTESIAN COMPONENTS OF A PARAXIAL BEAM IN A UNIAXIAL CRYSTAL

摘要: The evolution of the optical power associated with Cartesian components a paraxial beam propagating along axis in uniaxial crystal is investigated. energy exchange found to undergo saturation that due both diffraction and coupling between x- y-field components; for linearly polarized circularly symmetric input beams, asymptotic always amounts quarter total power. general results are applied case astigmatic Gaussian which admits fully analytical description. finite length crystals also considered.
