摘要: Aerobic biodegradation of vapor-phase petroleum hydrocarbons was evaluated in an intact soil core from the site aviation gasoline release. An unsaturated zone subjected to a flow nitrogen gas, oxygen, water vapor, and configuration analogous biofilter or situ bioventing sparging situation. The vertical profiles hydrocarbon concentration were determined by gas chromatography vapor samples. Biodegradation reduced low influent concentrations 45 92% over 0.6-m interval core. estimated total 75% 26 7 parts per million. Steady-state input simple analytical model balancing advection first-order hydrocarbons. First-order rate constants for major compounds used calibrate profiles. Rate seven individual varied factor 4. Compounds with lower molecular weights, fewer methyl groups, no quaternary carbons tended have higher constants. consistent kinetic parameters both microcosm tubing cluster studies at field site.
