摘要: Abstract A patient with an anaplastic (malignant) astrocytoma was examined computed tomography (CT) and positron emission (PET), in the latter case using [68Ga]EDTA, [11C]glucose. [11C]methionine. The CT examination as well [68Ga]EDTA study showed a small tumor located region of head left caudate nucleus. [11C]glucose increased uptake on same region, did [11C]methionine examination, but also considerable entire thalamic region. died 15 days after histologic evaluation thin sections obtained at autopsy excellent agreement between extent activity distribution administration. tissue seen only histologically different from that part observed other tracers. Although cytologically similar, large necrotic areas ability to induce marked endothelial proliferation, whereas former neither necroses nor notable proliferation seen. In this more than 50% would have remained radiologically imperceptible without PET examination.
