摘要: Prospective clinical study of two treatments. To compare mechanical ventilation (MV) with phrenic nerve stimulation (PNS) for treatment respiratory device-dependent (RDD) spinal cord-injured (SCI) patients. Department patients an insurance-company-run trauma hospital in Hamburg, Germany. data collection treatment-related over 20 years. In total, 64 SCI-RDD were treated during the period. Of these, 32 functioning nerves and diaphragm muscles PNS destroyed mechanically ventilated. Incidence infections (RIs per 100 days) prior to use final device was equal both groups, that is (median (interquartile range)) 1.43 (0.05–3.92) 1.33 (0.89–2.21) MV (P=0.888); our institution it 0 (0–0.92) 2.07 (1.49–4.19) (P<0.001); at location (0–0.02) 0.14 (0–0.31) (P<0.001). Thus, compared MV, significantly reduces frequency RI. Quality speech better PNS. Nine PNS, but only employed or learned after rehabilitation (P=0.093). The primary investment higher can be paid off setting within 1 year because reduced amount single equipment, easier nursing fewer RIs MV. instead RIs, running costs obviously improves patients' quality life.
