摘要: Aim  To examine the way in which ‘area’ and ‘habitat diversity’ interact shaping species richness to find a simple valid express this interaction. Location  The Natura 2000 network of terrestrial protected areas Greece, covering approximately 16% national territory. Methods  We used framework, provides classification scheme for natural habitat types, quantify heterogeneity. analysed data plant composition 16,143 quadrats 5044 subspecies higher plants were recorded. built mathematical model that incorporates effect diversity on species–area relationship (SAR). Results  Our analysis showed was correlated with area. However, keeping constant, related area; while area diversity. Comparing SAR 237 sites we found slope curve diversity. Main conclusions  Discussion causes has often focused primacy per se versus heterogeneity, even though two mechanisms are not mutually exclusive should be considered jointly. increasing affects different ways, but dominant is increase SAR. While full fit typically includes variety terms involving both richness, can reduced linear perturbation accumulation curve.
