摘要: Red beds and related shallow marine siliciclastic sediments within the extensional Catalan Neogene basins offer a unique opportunity to study relationship between sediment anisotropy, remanence acquisition inclination shallowing. On basis of dominant fabric features, sedimentary facies are grouped into laminated, massive bioturbated. The bulk susceptibility appears be dominated by paramagnetic phyllosilicates clay minerals. magnetic is dominantly foliated while degree anisotropy very variable dependent on type. Strong foliation dominates in laminated whereas weak characterizes bioturbated mass-flow facies. Moreover, we observe correlation type inclination. undisrupted thinly provides most biased values: 20° as opposed 60° expected geomagnetic field. Steeper inclinations reported from muds, best record found weakly anisotropic mass flow deposits.
