Efficacy of epidural steroid injections for low-back pain and sciatica: a systematic review of randomized clinical trials

摘要: The purpose of the study was to assess efficacy epidural steroid injections for low-back pain. Data obtained using computer-aided search published randomized clinical trials and assessment methods studies. Twelve evaluating were identified. extracted based on scores quality methods, 4 categories (study population, interventions, effect measurement, data presentation analysis) conclusion author(s) with regard injections. Method ranged from 17 72 points (maximum 100 points). Eight showed method 50 or more. Of best studies (> 60 points), 2 reported positive outcomes negative results. Overall, 6 indicated that injection more effective than reference treatment it be no better worse treatment. There appeared relationship between methodological outcomes. In conclusion, there are flaws in design most inconsistent results has not been established. benefits injections, if any, seem short duration only. Future research efforts warranted, but attention should paid trials.
