Business models in tourism: a review and research agenda

摘要: Purpose Business models and the business model concept have become a fixture of scholarly managerial attention. With focus on how actors create, capture disseminate value, research holds promise to inform tourism sector’s search for ways innovate change outdated practices. Yet, has inspired little tackling contingencies context. The purpose this paper is address gap in review agenda tourism. Design/methodology/approach In paper, authors synthesize contributions from publications EBSCO, Emerald Insight, ProQuest Science Direct databases, that make explicit use (anytime up September 2016). We conceptualize identified articles as coherent body knowledge with objective identifying common themes characterize existing contributions. Findings From 28 qualified articles, identify four emergent themes: sector-specific configurations, role different value types, design consistency regulatory contingencies. These three domains which present avenues tourism-specific studies models, well their management innovation position relation general literature. Originality/value This details researchers across disciplines model. Together directions further research, literature thus establishes conceptual basis stock study research.
