摘要: Abstract Northern Italy is a diverse geological region, including the wide and thick Po Plain sedimentary basin, which bounded by Alps Apennines. The seismically slow shallow structure of difficult to retrieve with classical seismic measurements such as surface wave dispersion, yet detailed region greatly affects propagation hence ground shaking. Here we invert Rayleigh ellipticity in period range 10–60 s for 95 stations northern using fully non linear approach constrain vertical v S , P density profiles crust beneath each station. motion primarily sensitive shear-wave velocity recording station, reduces along-path contamination effects. We use 3D layering MAMBo, previous model based on compilation geophysical information surrounding regions Italy, employ data within its layers. show that from ballistic teleseismic trains alone crustal well. This leads MAMBo-E, an updated region’s inherits available prospection studies, while fitting new MAMBo-E brings insights into lateral heterogeneity subsurface. Compared it shows overall faster anomalies Quaternary, Pliocene Oligo-Miocene layers better delineates structures at depth. Two low are mapped Mesozoic layer western eastern parts Plain, seem correspond Monferrato basin Ferrara-Romagna thrust system, respectively.
