Incidents in obstetric anaesthesia and analgesia: an analysis of 5000 AIMS reports.

摘要: We aimed to explore the first 5000 incidents reported Australian Incident Monitoring Study (AIMS) involving anaesthesia for obstetric patients and found 203 such incidents. Analysis classification identified seven main incident groups; regional anaesthetic techniques (33%), equipment problems (13%), "wrong drug" errors (10%), other drug-related (16%), difficult/failed intubation (9%), with endotracheal tube (9%) (10%). When compared in database, cases were be over-represented respect accidental dural puncture, post puncture headache, failed emergency situations incidence of certain types error. The implications these reports regarding safe practice are discussed.
