Evaluation of capsaicin ointment at the Korean hand acupressure point K-D2 for prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting.

摘要: The K-D2 point is the Korean hand acupressure in Koryo Hand Therapy for prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting. We evaluated efficacy capsaicin ointment at 186 patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy a randomised, prospective, double-blind placebo-controlled study. Patients were randomised to have either placebo or applied both hands 1 h before surgery under standardised anaesthesia. was removed 8 later. Postoperative vomiting 6 24 following surgery. incidence lower group, with an absolute risk reduction (ARR) 21%, relative (RRR) 50% number-needed-to-treat (NNT) 5 0-6 (p = 0.001), ARR 11%, RRR 85% NNT 9 6-24 0.003). need rescue anti-emetic treatment also (3 (3%) vs 11 (12%); p 0.04) (5 (5%) 0; 0.02).
