Clinical effectiveness of autologous platelet rich fibrin in the management of infrabony periodontal defects.

摘要: Background This interventional controlled clinical trial with split mouth design compares the effectiveness of autologous platelet rich fibrin open flap debridement in management infrabony periodontal defects. Methods Fifteen patients paired contralateral defects were treated and (experimental group) or alone (control group). The changes probing pocket depth, attachment level, radiographic defect depth evaluated. Patient perception regarding pain discomfort following procedures early soft tissue healing responses assessed by visual analog scales, scored 7 days after surgical procedures. Final reevaluation was done 1 year surgery. Results Baseline measurements comparable between groups. Reevaluation at revealed that both treatment modalities resulted a significant decrease gain bone fill compared to baseline. Postoperative differences observed two groups 2.27±0.29 mm (P<0.001) for 3.33±0.35 mm level 1.29±0.32 mm reduction, all favor experimental group. preference greater response better group as scores. Conclusion Within limitations this study it can be concluded use is more effective than defects.
