摘要: Abstract A new technique to measure the lifetime τ of a neutron-radioactive nucleus that decays in-flight via neutron emission is presented and demonstrated utilizing MonteCarlo simulations. The method based on production neutron-unbound in target, which at same time slows down produced residual after (multi-) emission. spectrum velocity difference neutron(s) has characteristic shape, allows extract lifetime. If decay happens outside target there will be peak spectrum, while events where show broad flat distribution due continuous slowing nucleus. itself analysis procedure are discussed detail for specific candidate 26 O. stack targets with decreasing thicknesses can expand measurable range improve sensitivity by increasing ratio between inside target. simulations indicate lower limit ∼ 0 . 2 ps given conditions.
