摘要: This study had two goals. The first one was todetermine whether the predictors ofindividualism/collectivism, self-esteem, andfeeling of mastery in a specific socio-culturalenvironment which individuals from differentcultural backgrounds interact with each otherexplain life satisfaction. second goal wasto illuminate contradiction between crosscultural and local findings about ongoingTurkish cultural experience within relatedvariables frame socio culturalenvironment. Research participants numbered696, 388 students 308 academicians ofMersin University. Students were enrolled inthe Faculty Art Science, ofEngineering AdministrativeSciences Economics. Fifty percent themwere females fifty males.The academic sample consisted academicpersonnel (instructors, assistants, lecturers,and professors) above-mentionedfaculties. made up academicianswas also half female male. Theparticipants responded to Turkish versionof short form Individualism/CollectivismScale (INDCOL), Rosenberg Self-EsteemScale, Mastery Scale Satisfactionwith Life Scale. Among these scales, shortform INDCOL showed high level constructvalidity amoderate construct validity therelated samples. Others have levelsof validities reliabilities previousTurkish studies conducted. thisstudy revealed that individualism predictedhigh satisfaction collectivismpredicted low Self-esteemand predicted lifesatisfaction. It observed this studythat university contributed maleuniversity being autonomous andindependent.
