摘要: While single dose activated charcoal is effective in preventing drug absorption, repeated doses not only prevent absorption but also can increase systemic clearance. The mechanism for the latter effect may involve interruption of enterohepatic recycling and/or promotion exsorption from circulation into gut lumen. A comprehensive review reported studies volunteer subjects and overdose patients showed that markedly decreased half-life increased clearance a wide range drugs. Side-effects treatment were infrequent, included aspiration pneumonia, diarrhoea constipation. addition laxatives to did offer any significant recommended. It suggested optimal regimen use repeat acute intoxications an initial 75-100 g, followed by 50 g every 4 hours until risks toxicity are reduced acceptable level.
