摘要: The Moroccan Atlas is subdivided into two SW-NE trending zones: a tabular one in the northwest (“Causse moyen-atlasique”) and folded (“Moyen-Atlas plisse”) southeast. Both show Paleozoic, partly Carboniferous basement exposed at few places. It covered by thick sediments of mainly Mesozoic age. lower Jurassic consists carbonate rocks that were deposited on an extended platform. Middle sequences are thin top anticlines, but can be very cores synclines. Upper deposits have not been clearly identified lack deposition occurs up to Cretaceous. Cretaceous confined restricted areas center some synclines as Lower or Maestrichtian beds, which unconformably overlie older rocks.
