摘要: The objective of this study was to evaluate, spectrophotometrically, the compatibility non-mucinated polyethylene glycol (PEG) 4000 and non-PEGylated mucin in a PEGylated matrices for drug delivery application. Mucin extracted from giant African land snails ( Archachatina maginata ) using chilled acetone characterized terms qualitative properties solubility profile. Polymeric composed PEG ratios 2:0 (A), 1:1 (B), 2:1(C) 3:1 (D) were prepared by co-precipitation acetone. with respect Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Results tests performed on snail showed that carbohydrates, proteins trace amounts fats present; light-brownish colour, pleasant meaty odour. Snail mucin, when dispersed water yielded slightly viscous dispersion, but is not soluble ethanol, acetone, 0.1 M sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide sulphuric acid. presence different peaks FT-IR spectra compared (2:0) matrix (0:2) indicated formation new polymers, which could be employed delivery. This has shown PEGylation gives rise polymeric system principal quite those nonmucinated PEG, may drugs. Key words : PEGylation, delivery, spectroscopy, .
