摘要: Bacterial infections of the lower respiratory tract in adult horses occur when bacteria from nasopharynx reach airways and overwhelm normal defense mechanisms. Although Streptococcus equi subsp zooepidemicus is most commonly isolated bacterial species, mixed are possible. Tracheobronchial aspiration for microbiologic culture sensitivity suggested cases presenting with severe clinical signs or not responding to treatment. Early intervention appropriate antimicrobial selection results a good prognosis both survival return athletic function horses.
