Infection after rotator cuff repair

摘要: Sixteen patients (15 men and 1 woman) were treated for infection complicating rotator cuff repair during the period 1975 through 1994. Eight of 16 had their initial procedure performed elsewhere. The remaining 8 procedures at our institution with known incidence this complication being 0.27%. In addition to intravenous antibiotic therapy, an average 3.5 (range 2 8) operative required eradicate infections. Micro-organisms cultured Propionibacter in 6, coagulase negative Staphylococcus 4, aureus Peptostreptococcus magnus 1, both coagulase-negative 1. deltoid was restored all patients; reparable 11. 12 shoulders greater than year follow-up (average 51 months, range 14 165 months), active elevation averaged 110 degrees external rotation 50 degrees. Four no pain, 4 minimal moderate pain. Satisfactory final results, which determined by patients' opinion or use either University California, Los Angeles score modified Neer system, obtained 5 (42%) shoulders.
