摘要: This article briefly reviews the history and epidemiology of measles, mumps rubella disease case for introducing combination measles–mumps–rubella (MMR) vaccine into national childhood immunization schedule in South Africa. Despite adopting World Health Organization's Measles Elimination strategy 1996 achieving a significant decrease incidence added effort is needed southern Africa to reach goal eliminate endogenous spread measles. Mumps still common while there are few sequelae, even rare complications important large populations. Congenital syndrome seldom reported, but it estimated that million or so children born every year over 600 infants affected some degree by infection. The naturally acquired immunity women childbearing age has been at 90%, containing may paradoxically increase proportion girls reaching puberty susceptible rubella. elimination measles being achieved many countries America, despite recent epidemic, must be seriously considered Current constraints potential steps discussed.
