摘要: The possible beneficial effects of tea consumption have attracted a great deal attention. Many the biological been attributed to catechins, but metabolic fate these compounds is not clear. In present study, major metabolite observed in human blood and urine samples after green administration was identified as O-methylated derivative (-)-epigallocatechin (EGC) by comparison with products from chemical enzymatic O-methylation EGC. structure this elucidated 4'-O-methyl-(-)-epigallocatechin (4'-O-MeEGC) (1)H (13)C NMR heteronuclear multiple bond connectivity experiment. plasma level 4'-O-MeEGC reached its peak value within first 2 h following ingestion. Its maximum concentration 4 6 times higher than that half-lives EGC were 1.02 +/- 0.07 4.39 1.14 h, respectively. amount excreted about 3 EGC, 88% 8 h. structural information concentration-time profile provide basis for understanding biotransformation future elucidation activities.
