摘要: A number of commonly used toothpaste ingredients, such as detergents, possess not inconsiderable antimicrobial activity. Additionally, specific ingredients including triclosan are now added to toothpastes enhance activity and improve plaque inhibition. To date, there have been few studies the properties in vivo individual ingredients. Most investigations evaluated whole product. Persistence action has shown relate potential inhibitory action. The aim this study was compare magnitude duration salivary bacterial count reductions produced by a single rinse 0.2% triclosan, 1% sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) chlorhexidine mouthwashes. 16 volunteers took part single-blind latin-square randomised crossover designed with balanced residual effects. Before for time periods up 420 min following rinsing allocated mouthwashes, saliva samples were obtained processed total anaerobic counts. With exception saline control rinse, 3 test solutions considerable counts which remained significant h 7 SLS chlorhexidine. However, at most after baseline, effects significantly greater than SLS. Overall, had triclosan. Incremental values from 30 post always positive indicating recovery, whereas these negative results indicate that provide some persistence oral cavity when relatively high dose compared vehicle.
