摘要: Abstract Life cycle analysis has been used to compare the environmental performance of different sugarcane bioenergy systems. Environmental indicators such as resource consumption, chemical stressors and ecological health are analyse trade-off between options. The reference fuel chain is based on current practices in Mauritius whereby bagasse excess sugar factory requirements generate electricity for grid. An alternative option uses filter cake produce compost which when applied plantations increases cane yield by up 30% but at expense surplus production. A third combines improvements steam management with composting bagasse/filter cake. Results obtained from comparative show that it possible improve both production raw (by 30%) 190%) while reducing stress measured predefined eco-efficiency indicators.
