摘要: Intensive forest management in Scandinavia has decreased the amount of dead wood required by saproxylic (wood-living) organisms. To reduce this problem, some is now retained during operations, often form man-made high stumps (ca. 4 m high). Most these are cut with a harvester, although study were made explosives. The aims to determine whether such aspen (Populus tremula) and birch (Betula spp.) could be used red-listed beetles (Coleoptera), examine how fauna differs from that natural stumps. We also studied tree species, sun-exposure, stage decay trunk diameter influenced fauna. In 169 samples bark 116 species found, which 21 red-listed. Many including ones, more associated than However, total, found This probably because provide homogeneous type substrate ones. Among other variables difference between was most important. conclude valuable habitats for many beetle species.
