摘要: Geomorphology shapes the way we perceive world around us, making certain ways of understanding and interacting with landscapes more possible than others. Despite this, geomorphologists have a reputation for not engaging philosophical questions regarding their work, particularly role theory, framing language. Recent calls critical physical geography present significant opportunities geographers to engage that often go unasked, unanswered, in Earth sciences. Here discuss what might bring geomorphology, examining implications measure our efforts classify understand river form process. While geomorphology benefits from using approaches methods science, it struggles fundamental problem closure. Through example diversity explore how decisions, tools knowledge frameworks shape environmental outcomes. We challenge assumption once landscape is measured ‘known’, argue actively alternative knowing towards discipline which both just scientific. imagine an inclusive geography, drawing on disparate theoretical constructively critique practice geomorphology. this engagement will be most productive if framed readily accessible manner. Negotiating such project undoubtedly challenging, but there gained by building bridges over science/humanities divide shouting across it.
