摘要: Abstract While human impacts on rivers and other landforms have long been a component of geomorphic research, little this work explicitly includes insights into agency from social science or recognises that in many cases can be considered to hybrid co-productions ‘socio-natures’. A socio-geomorphic approach proposed here has parallels with some aspects sociohydrology extend enrich existing explanations the morphology of, for example, urban by recognising working co-evolution natural systems. Examples recent literature illustrate ways which these relationships understood analyzed, showing range socio-natural influences particular contexts material consequences river events system forms. The importance contingency time place together role nature both local global knowledge. An important element is it provides understanding nature, position intention scientific interventions as part system, example case restoration. This also leads need reflexivity geomorphologists reconsideration geomorphological knowledge those involved such respect sociogeomorphology whole.
