摘要: Inoperable liver tumors have an unfavorable natural course despite various therapeutic modalities. Octreotide, a somatostatin analog, has shown considerable antitumor activity on animal models of hepatic and isolated cell culture lines. In this paper, review the experimental evidence is presented. Moreover clinical papers case reports uncontrolled studies patients are also reviewed. The majority provide biochemical response endocrine while regression tumor size rare event. A randomized controlled trial octreotide in treatment advanced hepatocellular carcinoma significant survival benefit treated patients. Literature indicate stimulatory effect Kupffer cells as possible mechanism, but other antiproliferative actions been suggested not proved. Finally question presence affinity receptors tissue discussed. conclusion, according to our experience, administration best available for inoperable future better patient selection, based receptor subtypes, might further improve results.
