Current epidemiological trends and surveillance issues in brain tumors

摘要: The absence of an overall increase in incidence rates for all primary brain tumors since the 1950s argues against a recently introduced environmental tumorigen impacting these tumors. Historical increases cancer mortality and appear to be leveling off following widespread introduction CT MRI scans, indicating that malignant are likely artifact diagnosis reporting issues. Further studies needed understand those tumor types with do increasing among adults; specifically lymphomas, nerve sheath tumors, pituitary ependymomas. Patterns by race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, seasonal regional variation would assist directing relevant new research questions.
