Arch Phys Med Rehabil 2000;81:558-60. Objective: To compare the short-term effects postural drainage (PD), oscillating positive expiratory pressure (using FLUTTER device), and expiration glottis open lateral posture (ELTGOL) on oxygen saturation, pulmonary function, sputum production bronchitis. Design: A prospective, randomized study. Setting: clinical ward. Patients: Ten bronchitis received PD, FLUTTER, ELTGOL by same respiratory therapist at about time day separate days random order. Main Outcome Measures: Oxygen saturation function were measured before, immediately after, 15 minutes 1 hour after each treatment. Improvement was total wet weight for Interventions: PD consisted positioning a that allows bronchial gravity. is device claimed to combine oscillations airflow. airway clearance technique uses different lung volumes control flow rate avoid compression. The spent treatments 30 minutes. Results: All techniques well tolerated, did not change significantly during treatments. Thirty beginning treatment, increased all techniques, but end it larger (from 15.0 ± 8.6g 19.0 9.3g, p Conclusions: safe effective removing secretions without causing undesirable more prolonging secretion removal than method. © 2000 American Congress Rehabilitation Medicine Academy Physical
