摘要: We investigated Tristram's Storm-Petrel Oceanodroma tristrami on Laysan Island and French Frigate Shoals, Northwest Hawaiian Islands, in the first detailed study of this species' breeding biology. Breeding extended through boreal winter from mid-October to mid-June. The mean hatching success was 0.35 2004 0.46 2005; Tern Island, it 0.53 2005 0.61 2006. Fledging 0.45, 0.16 at 2004. At fledging during 2005-2008 0.48 (range: 0.47 0.51) overall 2006 0.27 0.28 respectively. Egg abandonment common both locations, but no relationship evident between frequency visits by researchers. In addition abandonment, weather competition with larger burrowing seabirds for nest sites affected success. appears have a low reproductive rate compared other storm-petrels, whether population is declining as consequence unknown. More research into demography basic biology, including foraging niche, recommended.
