Therapeutic strategies to deplete macrophages in atherosclerotic plaques

摘要: Macrophages can be found in all stages of atherosclerosis and are major contributors atherosclerotic plaque development, progression destabilization. Continuous recruitment monocytes drives this chronic inflammatory disease, which intervened by several strategies: reducing the stimulus lowering circulating lipids promoting cholesterol efflux from plaque, direct indirect targeting adhesion molecules chemokines involved monocyte transmigration inducing macrophage death plaques combination with anti-inflammatory drugs. This review discusses outlined strategies to deplete macrophages promote stabilization.
