摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter describes the membrane association of nucleic acids. It presents supportive data in this regard and discusses speculative aspects DNA RNA with cell membranes. The chromosomal DNAs appears to be a universal phenomenon, observed prokaryotes, eukaryotes, viruses, extrachromosomal DNAs. Many techniques are employed study DNA-membrane association. Electron microscopy (EM) autoradiography provide morphological data. A variety biochemical procedures including preferential lipoprotein-rich extracts, selective salt extraction, density gradient centrifugation, incorporation thymidine analogs (for example, bromodeoxyuridine), labeling radioactive precursors is also presented. Extensive EM studies show that present as an integral component substructural part membrane-bound ribosomes. Membrane relatively insensitive RNase, soluble organic solvents, most readily extracted acidified water or hot (60°C) phenol other standard solvents following treatment sodium dodecyl sulfate. membrane-associated (mbrRNA) may play roles, ribosome binding via rRNA–mbrRNA association, stabilization mRNA by membranes, translation on
