摘要: The objectives of this project were to see whether heart rate, respiration blood pressure, and vocalization could be used evaluate stress castration in pigs. Six groups pigs 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 24 d age the study, a total 172 Half each group received lidocaine before castration, injected subcutaneously over testicle infiltrated around cord; other half left as controls. Pigs castrated without had higher rate (P < .02) frequency highest energy (HEF) measurements .05). Incising scrotum severing spermatic cord elicited greater response .05) anesthetic, whereas HEF was lower during cutting cord. Both data suggest that anesthetic is for 8 or older. Respiration not viable measure associated with castration.
