摘要: Abstract Because perorally administered enterotoxigenic coliform bacteria do not become colonized within the small intestine of conventional adult animals, authors evaluated germfree rat as a potential animal model acute or chronic colonization by these bacteria. Intestinal occurred promptly after peroral monocontamination, was most prominent in ileum, and remained essentially unchanged when assessed at weekly intervals groups rats monocontaminated either toxigenic nontoxigenic strains Klebsiella pneumoniae Escherichia coli . No mucosal adherence detected bacterial counts scrapings immunofluorescent studies. The did undergo any significant loss toxigenicity for 1 mo. transport water sodium vivo marker perfusion; values were similar, both jejunum to those animals. Jejunal reduced secretion throughout 5-wk study period contaminated with strain Klebsiella. Ileal also wk thereafter E. , but jejunal abnormal until 3rd wk. specific structural abnormalities that could be attributed visualized. These observations identify practical investigations concerning pathophysiologic events during intestinal properties.
