摘要: The major complication of central venous catheterization for immediate access haemodialysis is infection. Quinton Permcath a tunnelled, double lumen, flexible silastic catheter with Dacron cuff, and claimed to be associated low rate In two-year study we have monitored all complications including catheter-associated infection related this device in patients while following simple aseptic programme the care exit wound. Thirty four Permcaths were inserted 30 mean duration 6.2 months (SD +/- 5.7; range 2 days 23 months). Catheter use amounted total 197 months. Of twenty-seven wound infections, 6 (22%) caused by Staphylococcus aureus, 15 (56%) coagulase-negative staphylococci or corynebacteria. These occurred 19 patients, giving an site one episode per 7.4 Catheter-associated septicaemia three (two S. epidermidis), at 66 It was possible correlate episodes breakdown care. This confirms Permcath, conclude that design its contribute this.
