On the aerodynamics of variable-geometry oval-trajectory Darrieus wind turbines

摘要: A new computational model for the aerodynamics of vertical-axis wind turbines is introduced. It based on double-multiple streamtube concept and it incorporates capacity dealing with rotors whose blades follow oval-trajectories at variable setting-angles. We applied this to study an innovative in extra-large wind-power plants: VGOT (variable-geometry oval-trajectory) Darrieus turbine. Due especial geometric characteristics Darrieus, was necessary propose three non-dimensional parameters quantify its performance under different wind-conditions: equivalent power coefficient, solidity coefficient trajectory efficiency. show some numerical results testing several rotor configurations working scenarios.
