摘要: This study focuses on the comparison of mechanical and microstructural properties induction conventionally heat-treated steels in as-quenched state. The investigated steel is a heat treatable 42CrMo4 steel. In order to characterize properties, tensile tests Vickers hardness are performed. yield strength hardened condition turn out be slightly lower compared one. Light optical scanning electron microscopy show no differences martensitic structure condition. However, back scatter diffraction investigations reveal smaller block size within specimen. Carbon mappings by probe micro analysis homogenous carbon concentration non-uniform distribution induction-hardened case. segregation exhibits line-type features condition, lowering total amount matrix. Therefore, content matrix higher, which causes size. believed reason for higher strength.
