Background:  There is evidence that glutamatergic system involved pathophysiology of NR2 subunits N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) have been shown adversely affect functioning. Methods:  We measured serum antibodies peptide NMDA 60 individuals with different subtypes mania, including schizoaffective cases, who were assessed at up three time points. also these 295 other psychiatric groups and 170 non-psychiatric controls. antibody levels compared among by multivariate analyses within mania group repeated measures analysis variance. Results:  Individuals had increased controls when admission (t = 2.99, p = 0.003) evaluation (t = 2.57, p = 0.010), but not follow-up six months later. did differ significantly from control population. Within group, there was a significant decrease over points study (F = 5.4, df = 2, p = 0.0067). Conclusions:  are elevated during acute phase follow-up. Our findings support role for pathogenesis
