摘要: Multiple different disease processes may affect the colon and rectum, each challenging in varying aspects for both patient physician alike. Though considered benign, they encompass a wide spectrum of pathology ranging from infectious, radiation-induced, vascular etiologies to more obscure difficult diagnose conditions such as collagen microscopic colitides. Confounding situation, patients present with variety clinical symptoms spanning chronic, nonspecific diarrhea, vague abdominal pain, low-grade fevers, florid sepsis. As such, clinicians caring these must be aware not only many subtleties associated condition, but also possess sound, often stepwise, approach evaluation treatment. In this chapter, we review extensive gamut encompassing less common conditions, highlighting critical diagnostic therapeutic strategies maximize outcomes.
