摘要: BACKGROUND In the treatment of childhood hydrocephalus, 3D volumetry seems to have many advantages over classical planar index measurements for dedicated monitoring changes in cerebrospinal fluid and brain volume. Nevertheless, this method requires extensive technical effort access complete three-dimensional data set. Against background, we evaluated possibility area determination a single plane correlation volumetry. METHODS 138 routinely performed true FISP MRI sequences (1 mm isovoxel) were analyzed retrospectively 68 patients with pediatric hydrocephalus. After preprocessing, 3D-data sets skull stripped estimate inner A 2-class segmentation into different tissue types (brain matter CSF) was performed, volumes CSF (VCSF) (VBrain) calculated. at level foramina Monro manually identified ac-pc oriented data. plane, areas (ABrain) (ACSF) cm2 calculated used further analysis. RESULTS Mean VCSF 340 ± 145 cm3 VBrain 1173 ± 254 cm3. selected ACSF 26 ± 14 cm2, ABrain 107 ± 25 cm2. There very strong positive between both (r = 0.895) (r = 0.846). The prediction equations highly significant. CONCLUSION Planar correlates excellently VBrain. Thus, can serve as surrogate marker total quantitated objective tracking during
