摘要: Global positioning system (GPS) technologies have improved the ability of researchers to monitor wildlife; however, use these is often limited by monetary costs. Some begun commercially available GPS loggers as a less expensive means tracking wildlife, but data regarding performance devices are limited. We tested logger (i-gotU GT-120) placing at ground control points with locations known < 30 cm. In preliminary investigation, we collected every 15 minutes for several days estimate location error (LE) and circular probable (CEP). Using similar methods, then investigated influence cover on LE, CEP, fix success rate (FSR) constructing over points. found mean LE was 10 m 50% CEP 7 m. FSR not significantly influenced in all treatments remained near 100%. Cover had minor significant effect LE. Denser associated higher difference between no highest only 2.2 Finally, most commonly used provide measure estimated horizontal position (EHPE) which potentially may be filter inaccurate locations. combined from investigations, modeled function EHPE number satellites. support both satellites predicting LE; resulted loss many low return modest improvements Even without filtering, accuracy likely sufficient studies can accept average errors approximately
