摘要: Clostridioides difficile is the primary cause of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and colitis, a healthcare-associated intestinal disease resulting in significant fatality rate. Colonization gut critical for C. pathogenesis. The bacterial molecules essential efficient colonization therefore offer great potential as vaccine candidates. Here we present findings demonstrating that immunogenic lipoprotein CD0873 plays role pathogen success vivo. We found dixenic model, CD0873-positive strain significantly outcompeted CD0873-negative strain. Immunization mice with recombinant prevented long-term was correlated strong secretory IgA immune response. further high-resolution crystal structures CD0873, at 1.35–2.50 A resolutions, offering first view ligand-binding pocket provide evidence this adhesin part tyrosine import system, an amino acid key infection. These suggest could serve effective component against difficile.
