Defense mechanisms in a sample of non-psychiatric obese subjects

摘要: Abstract The aim was to assess the prevalent defense mechanisms in a sample of obese subjects; since specific defensive styles may interfere with management stressors and emotions, they also influence onset, severity, maintenance obesity. 70 subjects healthy normal-weight volunteers were assessed using Defense Mechanisms Inventory — DMI. Significant differences between groups have emerged at Turning Against Object ( t  = − 5.30; p  = − 5.55;  = − 4.87;  = − 3.61; U  = 264;  = .001) Projection  = 359;  = .042) scales, both higher males. No significant on DMI scores relation severity obesity been observed. An inadequate structure might represent vulnerability emotional states stressful life events. assessment provide valid tool for long-term treatments
