Aleitamento materno exclusivo em lactentes atendidos na rede pública do município de Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brasil

摘要: OBJECTIVES: to identify the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in children attending public health system and its association with variables relating mother child. METHODS: cross-sectional study conducted course 2005 National Immunization Campaign, city o Joinville, State Santa Catarina, Brazil. Carers for 889 answered a questionnaire including questions about child at vaccination sites. Descriptive statistics chi-square test were used analyze data, level significance 5%. RESULTS: observed was 90.7%, 84.2% 73.5%, under four, six twelve months age, respectively. Exclusive rates 53.9% among four 43.6% those months. Use pacifiers significantly associated absence both age (p<0.001). Mother work outside home aged (p=0.001). CONCLUSIONS: infants 12 lower than recommended by World Health Organization. The use may negatively influence breastfeeding.
